In the village of Kasala in Mukono, Uganda, lives an 89-year-old grandmother who is caring for her 15-year-old granddaughter.
Some years ago, the grandmother lost her son in a tragic accident. After his death, his young daughter came to live with her grandmother, and today the two depend greatly on one another.
Their current living conditions are very difficult. The small house is old and in poor condition, with a weak structure and a worn roof that no longer provides adequate protection against rain and wind.
Of particular concern is the lack of a proper toilet, which creates serious health, hygiene and safety challenges for both grandmother and granddaughter.
A Safe Home for Nalwoga and Her Granddaughter
At VECECAB — Vision for Empowerment Center and Capacity Building, we believe that everyone deserves a safe and dignified place to live.
We therefore want to build a new, modest home for this grandmother and her granddaughter.
VECECAB is already able to contribute important parts of the project. Builders are available and bricks are ready, allowing us to begin as soon as the remaining materials and costs can be covered.
What We Still Need
To complete the house, support is still needed for:
- Cement
- Sand
- Iron sheets for the roof
- Transport
- Basic construction materials
- Other costs required to complete the building
Every contribution, large or small, can help provide this family with a safer home and greater security for the future.
