This visit marked the first contact between VECECAB and Grannies2Grannies Friesland / PEFO Uganda, making it a special opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and learn more about each other’s work.
During their visit to VECECAB, our guests were shown several of the activities and training programmes at the centre. They visited the Fashion and Design / Tailoring department, where young people learn practical skills that can help them build an independent future.
They also visited our Carpentry department, where students receive hands-on training in woodworking and furniture making, and the Brick Making programme, which provides practical construction skills and opportunities for young people to earn an income.
The visit also included our clinic and health activities, where VECECAB works to improve access to healthcare and support vulnerable people within the surrounding communities.
Our visitors were very impressed by the wide range of activities taking place at VECECAB and by the practical way in which education, skills training, health and community development are brought together.
For VECECAB, this first meeting was about much more than simply showing our centre. It was an opportunity to build a new relationship.
Although our organisations have different backgrounds and areas of experience, we share an important goal: supporting people and communities and creating opportunities for a better future.
We believe there is much we can learn from one another. By sharing experiences, knowledge and ideas, organisations can discover new approaches and strengthen the work they are already doing.
We hope that this first visit will be the beginning of continued contact between VECECAB, Grannies2Grannies Friesland and PEFO Uganda.
Learning from each other, sharing experiences and working together can make our communities stronger.
VECECAB warmly thanks Grannies2Grannies Friesland for their visit, their interest in our work and the valuable conversations we shared.
