This term, VECECAB welcomed a new group of young people who previously had very limited opportunities to continue their education.

Many had left school at an early age and saw few possibilities beyond casual labour and irregular work.

Through VECECAB’s Carpentry and Woodwork programme, they now have a practical path forward.

The students are learning real skills that can be used to earn an income after training. As their abilities grow, so does their confidence in themselves and in what their future can become.

Carpentry is more than a classroom subject. It is a trade that can lead directly to paid work, self-employment and the ability to support a family.

For some students, this is the first time education has felt directly connected to opportunity and income.

They are beginning to speak about their work with pride and to see themselves not as casual labourers, but as future skilled craftsmen.

VECECAB’s goal is to give young people practical knowledge, confidence and a skill they can carry with them for life.

Their future does not have to be limited to casual work. It can be built around skill, craftsmanship and opportunity.
